I admit I am certainly no fan when it comes to cleaning. But of course, all homes need a regular clean regardless of whether you are one of Mrs Hinch’s army or loathe it. As with other areas of my life, I do try to keep the cleaning products I use as natural and eco-friendly as I can. Making your own DIY cleaning products is a great way to do this… and it is actually really cheap and super easy! Here is a very handy guide on how to do this…
This useful infographic has been created by Pattersons, a company who offers eco cleaning products both for household and commercial purposes. They suggest a few simple ‘recipes’ for making your own household cleaning products; including an all purpose cleaner, stain remover and degreaser.
All Purpose Cleaner
A simple but effective homemade all purpose cleaner can be made by mixing equal amounts of white vinegar with water. You can also add in your favourite scent too if you wish. I have used this many times before and found it to be very much up to the job as a general cleaner.
An eco DIY stain remover is achieved using one spoonful of eco-friendly soap with two spoons of baking soda and two spoons of hydrogen peroxide. I haven’t tried this particular one out yet, but will be interested to!
The third and final homemade DIY eco cleaning product suggested is lemon degreaser. This is made by 4 parts white vinegar to 1 part lemon juice. (ie 1/2 cup lemon juice mixed with 2 cups of white vinegar). As the infographic explains, the acids combine to work effectively against grease. Another one to have a go at then!
