Book Review Journal (Ages 7+) by Shoohada Khanom: Review and Giveaway

If you are a fellow home educator, or even if you are not, you might find the idea of a journal for children to write book reviews a really fun and useful idea. I received a book review journal by Shoohada Khanom to review and I am also running a giveaway for one lucky reader to win any three of her lovely books or journals too! Details of this are at the end of the post. But first, here’s what I thought of the book review journal…

Book Review Journal (Ages 7+) by Shoohada Khanom: Review and Giveaway

Book Review Journal

The book review journal has 115 pages with space to write various details about each book read, including; the author, title, genre, start date, finish date, characters, plot/storyline, new words, memorable quotes, and any other thoughts. There are also 5 pages at the back to write a list of future books to read. This style journal is suitable for ages 7+ approximately but there is also a simpler version for younger children. There is also a selection of different cover designs to choose from.

What I really like about the idea of a book review journal is that it encourages children to engage more deeply with the books they are reading/ have read, and it supports them in their literacy development. It also provides a fun writing activity for a particular purpose too.

  1. We used to homeschool our boys when they were younger and I would always ask them to do a little write up of any books they read. I want to get my daughter into the same habit and this looks like it would give a bit of structure to help her.

  2. I love this idea. My Goddaughter is an avid reader and I know she would really get something out of this. I love hearing about the things she’s read but I think this is also a nice way to look back over things and see how the reading has changed either in level, genre that they enjoy etc.

  5. Hello, those journals look like a lovely idea and if I was lucky enough to win one then I would give it to a local charity that helps families in need.

  6. I love the idea of this! Eva would really enjoy having a journal like this to keep track of her reading. She’s started writing her own thoughts for book reviews by herself but it would be nice to keep a written log too!
